Couscous: Bring the water to a simmer in a small pot over medium heat, then turn off the heat. In a shallow baking dish combine the couscous, salt and olive oil, tossing to coat. Bring water or stock, olive oil or butter, and salt to a boil. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Basic Couscous is one of the most favored of recent trending meals in the world. It’s enjoyed by millions daily. It is simple, it’s quick, it tastes yummy. Basic Couscous is something which I’ve loved my whole life. They’re fine and they look fantastic.

The ingredients needed to make Basic Couscous:
  1. Make ready 130 g plain couscous
  2. Get Zest of one lemon
  3. Take to taste Salt
  4. Prepare to taste Ground black pepper
  5. Get 60 ml olive oil
  6. Get 400 ml boiling chicken stock

In a saucepan, combine everything except the coucous; bring to a boil. Couscous is a North African dish made from tiny steamed balls of semolina flour. Steps to make Basic Couscous:
  1. In a bowl add all the ingredients with the stock being the last ingredient. Cover with clingfilm and allow the couscous to cook for 10-12 minutes.
  2. Remove the clingfilm and using a fork fluff the couscous.
  3. Next fresh herbs. Mint, chives, parsley, coriander or any other herb can be added. Chickpeas, sun dried tomatoes and other vegetables can also be added to make a meal. However, I added juice of have a lemon and a tsp of freshly chopped mint leaves.

Though we think of it and cook it as a grain, couscous is actually a type of pasta. It's one of the easiest, fastest, most versatile side dishes you can make. And it's especially wonderful with stews or saucy main dishes. Couscous is amazingly easy to cook. Couscous is the traditional family meal on Fridays in Morocco, and best when made by a Moroccan mom.
